Vaporesso XROS 5 Nano Touchscreen Pod Kit

The XROS 5 Nano is the square one. It is the only kit in the XROS range that is not a pen, and the only one with a touchscreen: a 1.09 inch display you swipe and tap rather than click through.

The 5 Nano vape kit features a 1600mAh battery, 30W, twenty-nine screen layouts and a body that sits flat in a palm rather than standing up in a pocket. There is no fire button, so you draw on it and it goes.

It comes in eight finishes, and it takes every XROS pod from 0.4 ohm through to 1.2 ohm. The rest of the Vaporesso range is listed separately.

The 1.09 Inch Touchscreen

This is a real touchscreen, not a screen with a button next to it. Vaporesso's own instructions have you swiping left and right to change the wallpaper, swiping down for the puff count and the active mode, and pressing and holding to unlock.

The display is 311 pixels per inch, which is enough that the text stays sharp in daylight, and there are twenty-nine layouts across six themes to choose between.

Relax Mode and Puff Tracking

The Nano keeps a record of how you vape and shows it back to you on the screen: daily, weekly and monthly totals, plus what Vaporesso call Three-Ring Records.

Relax Mode sits alongside it and scores the length of a draw, bronze past two seconds, silver past four and gold past six. It is a novelty rather than a feature, but it is part of why this kit gets picked up and shown to people.

Three Output Modes

The Vaporeso XROS 5 Nano offers Power, Normal and Eco modes.

• Power gives the warmest draw
• Normal is the everyday setting
• Eco trims the output so a charge lasts longer.

Which of those you see depends on the pod. With the 0.4 ohm you set a wattage directly. With a 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 or 1.2 ohm pod you pick a mode and the kit sets the power itself.

How Big Is the XROS 5 Nano?

It is 76.1 x 54.3 x 22.2mm, which is why people search for it as the 'square Vaporesso' rather than by name. It is wider than it is tall, and it sits flat in a hand or a coat pocket instead of standing upright like the rest of the XROS kits.

One thing worth knowing before you order: Nano refers to the height, not the weight. At 86g it is actually heavier than the standard XROS 5, which is 73.7g, because the screen and the wider body add mass. It is small in the way a pebble is small, not the way a pen is.

Battery and Charging

A full charge takes 45 minutes from flat over Type-C at 2A, which is Vaporesso's own figure. The screen reads the exact percentage rather than a bar, so you can see where you are before deciding whether a top-up is worth it.

1600mAh is 100mAh more than the standard XROS 5 holds. How long that lasts between charges depends on how often you vape and at what power: a 0.4 ohm pod at 30W drains it far faster than a 0.8 ohm pod in Eco. Vaporesso publish no days-per-charge figure for the Nano.

Which Pods Fit the XROS 5 Nano

All of them. Vaporesso list the Nano as taking the whole XROS pod range, and both pod generations use the same fitting, so pods bought for an older XROS drop straight in.

The UK kit ships with the 0.6 ohm fitted and a 0.8 ohm spare in the box. In our view both are the sweet spot for RDL, and a 1.0 or 1.2 ohm pod gives a tight mouth to lung draw. Replacements are the COREX 3.0 pods, four to a pack.

The Eight XROS 5 Nano Colours

Each of the eight finishes is photographed in its own colour so the texture is visible rather than left to the name.

The Damascus finishes carry a hammered pattern across the metal. Leatherette is a textured wrap, and Nacre is the pearl one. Damascus Pink is the pink.

XROS 5 Nano vs. XROS 5

Both pod vape kits use the same pods, same coil platform, same 30W. Everything else about the XROS 5 Nano and classic XROS 5 is different, and the name is misleading about which is smaller.

Take the Nano for the touchscreen and the shape. Take the standard XROS 5 if you want a fire button, a lighter kit and the faster charge.

If it is the biggest battery you want instead, that is the XROS Pro 2 at 2000mAh.

XROS 5 Nano Release Date and UK Availability

It is already out in the UK 2ml version, in all eight finishes.

It arrived after the standard XROS 5 as the first touchscreen kit Vaporesso put in the XROS range, which is why a lot of the older comparison articles do not mention it.

How to Use the XROS 5 Nano

A new pod needs five minutes before the first draw, which is Vaporesso's own instruction. The five steps to use the XROS 5 Nano are:

1. Lift the pod out.
2. Snap off the mouthpiece, squeeze the e-liquid in through the filling hole, then put the mouthpiece back and make sure it is shut firmly.
3. Push the pod back into the kit.
4. Leave it five minutes. This is what stops a fresh pod tasting burnt.
5. Draw on it. There is no fire button to hold.

To switch it on, click the side button five times. To change the layout, press and hold the screen, swipe to the one you want and tap it. To set the airflow, use the toggle on the side: closed for a tight cigarette-style draw on nic salts, open for a looser one.
