Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini Pod Vape Kit

The XROS 5 Mini is a buttonless pod kit with a 1500mAh battery and no screen. You inhale and it fires, a toggle on the back sets the airflow, and four LEDs on the side show the battery.

The UK vape kit ships with one 0.6 ohm COREX 3.0 pod, 2ml and TPD compliant, fitted and ready to fill.

The Mini is the simpler sibling of the XROS 5 in Vaporesso's XROS line, with the same battery and the same pods but nothing to set.

The XROS 5 Mini comes in fourteen colours, all with the same battery and pods:

• Black, Carbon Black, Purple, Rose Red, Sky Blue, Titanium Silver, Pastel Crystal

The Mist and Retro finishes have a textured leather-look wrap, and these four are sold in the UK as the XROS 5 Mini Leather Edition. Vaporesso list them simply as colours. The Black, Brown, Grey and Red Leather finishes belong to the full size XROS 5.

How Long Does the Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini Last?

Vaporesso's figure is 30 minutes on charge for two days of vaping. They publish no time for a full charge.

Real use comes down to how often you vape. The 5 Mini has no power modes to trade battery for vapour, and somebody on twenty puffs a day will get a very different answer from somebody on two hundred.

The four LEDs show the level. Four lights from 75 to 100 percent, three from 50 to 75, two from 25 to 50, and one if your battery level falls below 25%. On charge they count up from one to four, and all four stay lit once it is full.

What Are the Differences Between the XROS 5 and XROS 5 Mini?

Both the XROS 5 and XROS 5 Mini vape kits feature the same 1500mAh battery and the same pods. The Mini drops the screen, the button and the power modes.

The Mini is the one for nothing to set. The XROS 5 shows the battery on a screen and lets you choose between PWR, NOR and ECO.

Why Is My XROS 5 Mini Not Hitting?

When the kit stops, the four LEDs flash together, and the number of flashes says why:

• Five flashes: a short circuit or a resistance too low
• Four flashes: no pod reading, or a resistance too high
• Three flashes: too hot, so leave it to cool
• Two flashes: battery too low, so charge it
• Four flashes then a single slow pulse: a draw went past eight seconds

Which Pods Fit the Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini?

The XROS 5 Mini is compatible with XROS pods, and the one in the box is COREX 3.0, Vaporesso's current mesh. Pods fill from the top: snap the mouthpiece off, fill through the hole and press it back on. The coil is built into each pod, so there is no separate XROS 5 Mini coil to buy.

Spares come as XROS COREX 3.0 pods. In our view the 0.6 and 0.8 ohm are the sweet spot for RDL, and the 1.0 and 1.2 give a tight mouth to lung draw. Vaporesso list the 0.4 ohm for the Mini as well, for a looser restricted lung draw.

How to Use the Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini

There is no power button, so there is nothing to switch on. The simple start up steps are:

1. Pull the pod out and peel the sticker off.
2. Snap the mouthpiece off, fill through the hole and press the mouthpiece firmly back.
3. Seat the pod and leave it five minutes for the coil to take up e-liquid.
4. Set the airflow toggle on the back, tighter for mouth to lung or looser for restricted lung.
5. Inhale.
